Colin Kaepernick has been tapped to be the main face of Nike's 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign.  This is significant as Kaepernick has been entrenched in a legal battle against the NFL as he believes he is wrongfully being blackballed by the league and its owners since he decided to kneel for the national anthem before games and Nike just so happens to be the apparel provider for the NFL and all of its teams.  This is an issue that has divided people across the country as many have willfully been ignorant and have misrepresented what Kaepernick is protesting.  Those who choose to believe Kaepernick is simply attempting to disrespect the country are doing so with malicious intent and many NFL owners sadly fall into this category.  Kaepernick has vehemently stated that he is protesting inequality and police brutality and because of his views has given Nike a perfect figure for their company as the tagline "Believe in Something.  Even if it Means Sacrificing Everything."  Since the move, Nike's stocks have reached record highs so it seems as though many more people stand with Kaepernick's movement than the NFL would like people to believe.  As an avid and educated sports fan I can easily say that Kaepernick is much better than many of his fellow quarterbacks, especially the backups.  Kaepernick nearly led the 49ers to a Super Bowl and had analysts like former NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski stating that Kaepernick had the potential to be the "one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time." The Nike commercial featuring Kaepernick aired during the first week of the NFL season and has the country talking, but one thing is certain, Kaepernick should be playing in the NFL.
